Aurora was tiny, fluffy, and suddenly surrounded by strangers.

The one-and-a-half-year-old Pomeranian had been surrendered in the UK. She needed urgent rescue, and soon she was heading toward a very different life.

But there was one big challenge waiting for her.

She had an entire pack of dogs to meet.

A Tiny Newcomer Takes Her First Steps

After picking Aurora up, her rescuer drove her home. That was where his partner, Ella, saw the little dog for the first time.

Ella immediately noticed how tiny and sweet she was. Aurora also seemed very submissive when they tried to pick her up.

Instead of bringing her straight into the busy house, they started outside. They placed Aurora in the garden so she could explore at her own speed.

She sniffed around her new surroundings. From behind the gate, some of the other dogs were already watching.

Aurora slowly seemed to become more comfortable.

Her rescuers decided not to introduce every dog at once. They started with the smallest members of the group, the rescue puppies.

The puppies gathered on the other side of the gate. Aurora looked unsure at first and was not wagging her tail.

So everyone gave her time.

Soon, Aurora began moving closer to the puppies. She showed enough interest that her rescuers decided to open the gate.

The first meeting went well.

Pepsi even gave Aurora kisses. Teddy, another recently rescued dog, eventually found his way through the gate too.

Before long, the tiny group was sharing the same space.

Aurora’s rescuers were pleased with how she handled it. But her next meeting would be very different.

Then Came a Dog Ten Times Her Size

Next was Mokey, a Doberman who was much bigger than Aurora.

The puppies were moved away first. This gave Aurora more space and kept the meeting from becoming too much for her.

The difference between the two dogs was huge. Aurora was described as being about the size of Mokey’s head.

Her rescuers stayed close and watched carefully.

Aurora was nervous, but she kept going. Her rescuers also avoided simply picking her up whenever things became uncomfortable.

They wanted her to handle the meeting while staying safely on the ground.

And she did.

After meeting Mokey, Aurora still had one more dog waiting.

His name was Kobe, a Golden Retriever.

At first, Aurora again seemed unsure. But Kobe approached her differently.

He did not push her.

When Aurora did not seem ready to meet him, Kobe looked away and gave her space. Her rescuers noticed how polite he was being around the tiny newcomer.

Slowly, Aurora allowed him closer.

She even let Kobe sniff her.

Then something especially telling happened when all the dogs came outside together.

Aurora hid beside Kobe.

Of all the much bigger dogs around her, she had chosen to stay near the one who had given her space.

A New Name And A Growing Bond

By then, Aurora had met the whole pack.

Her rescuers had also changed her name to Miso.

The next step was bringing Miso inside the house. There were dogs everywhere, but she continued settling into her new surroundings.

Something else was happening too.

Ella was becoming very attached to her.

Ella would lie with Miso, and the tiny dog would fall asleep on her like a baby. Miso was also getting along well with the other dogs.

Before the first day was even over, Ella was already thinking about keeping her.

That night, the household settled down.

The puppies went into their crate. The other dogs went to their sleeping places.

Miso and Teddy were different.

Because they were the two newest rescues, both stayed in the bedroom with their rescuers for the night.

It had been a huge first day for Miso.

She had arrived in an unfamiliar place. She had explored a new garden and faced dog after dog, including one many times her size.

Yet little by little, she had found her place among them.

And perhaps the sweetest sign came from something very simple.

When the whole pack surrounded her, tiny Miso chose to stay close to Kobe, the gentle Golden Retriever who had known when to give her space.

Meanwhile, Ella’s bond with the little Pomeranian was already growing.

Miso had arrived as a dog needing urgent rescue. By the end of that first day, she was falling asleep beside someone who was already considering making her part of the family for good.
